Dr. Chelsea Kayed, Optometrist
Dr. Kayed is a dedicated and compassionate optometrist with a genuine passion for eye care. Dr. Kayed earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, where she excelled in her studies and developed a deep understanding of the complex intricacies of the eye. She continuously stays updated on the latest advancements in eye care through ongoing education and training, ensuring that her patients receive the most advanced and effective treatments available.
Dr. Kayed especially enjoys diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular diseases such as glaucoma and macular degeneration. With her friendly approach and emphasis on patient education, she strives to build strong connections and empower her patients to prioritize their eye health.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Chelsea enjoys golfing, camping, travelling, and exploring the beautiful island of Cape Breton with her husband and young son.
Dr. Ashley Chiasson, Optometrist
Dr. Ashley Chiasson is an optometrist who was born and raised in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. From a young age, she had a strong desire to pursue a career in optometry. To gain valuable experience in the field, she dedicated many years to working as a clinical assistant in optometry clinics across Canada.
In 2008, Dr. Chiasson achieved her Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis Xavier University. Her passion for optometry led her to Cardiff University in Wales, United Kingdom, where she embarked on her optometry degree in 2010. In 2013, she successfully completed her studies and graduated from Cardiff University.
Eager to expand her knowledge and skills, Dr. Chiasson ventured to London, England, where she spent a year gaining invaluable optometric experience. During this time, she worked at VisionCare Medical Eye Centre and completed clinical rotations at renowned institutions including Bristol and Moorfields Eye Hospitals.
Returning to her roots in Canada, Dr. Chiasson dedicated four years to serving the community in the Annapolis Valley. However, her love for Cape Breton Island called her back home, and she now practices optometry at Membertou Eyecare, where she is thrilled to provide personalized vision care and individualized service to her patients.
Outside her professional life, Dr. Chiasson finds joy in hiking, traveling, and spending time outdoors alongside her husband and twin sons. She feels fortunate to be surrounded by the natural beauty of Cape Breton Island and is eager to explore more of its hidden gems.
